6.0 CABLE DRUMS
6.1 Vendor shall specify his standard production lengths and respective drum types and sizes for the quantities of each type of cable required. For instrument control cable, the length of each drum shall be 500 meters at least, unless specified otherwise. All drum lengths stated shall be continuous, Cable or conductor jointing in any form is unacceptable.
6.2 Cable shall be protected against damage during transit and storage. Cable ends shall be fixed to the drum. Cable ends shall be protected prior to fixing to drum. Cable drum shall be fitted with battens, fixed around the entire periphery of the drum.
6.3 Each cable drum shall have the following information stenciled on each side:
• Purchase order No. and item No.
• Number and size of cable cores
• Type of cable and sheath color
• Voltage grade
• Length on each drum
•Net and gross weight
• Manufacturer's name
• Date of manufacture
• Direction of roll arrow
• IEC 60331 or IEC 60332-3 as applicable
6.4 The drum number should be permanently marked in two places (diametrically opposite) on each flange.
