From the charts, we can see that urban population was increasing and the rural population was decreasing between 1990 and 2010. Especially, the population of rural had an obvious decreasing between 2000 and 2010.
From my perspective of view, the reason for population changes between 1990 and 2010 was the developing of economy. From 1990 to 2010 the urban economy was increasing so people’s living standard was getting better, which contributed to a high birth rate of infants and ensured people’s health. Since 2000, the urban economy has grown significantly, as a result the opportunities in job market increased a lot. While, the wealth gap between urban and rural areas was overgrown. So more and more rural people came to urban cities to earn money for better lives. It also can conclude that the rural population will continue decreasing. The major composition of these rural people were the young because most jobs in cities were manual labor at that time, and the rest of the rural people living in countryside were the old and children.
In conclusion, economy is the crucial factors which affects people to choose their living places. Rural people came to urban cities could raise economic efficiency. But every coin has two sides. Problems will arise with more and more rural people lived in urban cities such as traffic congestion, so government should introduce policies to help reduce the gap between rich cities and poor countrysides.
